Bonding
Bonding is a procedure in which a composite resin is layered onto the surface of a tooth, hardened, then sculpted into the desired shape. It is used to:
- Reduce spaces between teeth
- Repair worn or chipped teeth
- Lengthen small teeth
- Brighten stained teeth
- Repair decayed or traumatized teeth
Since the bonding procedure can be completed in a single office visit, it is a good, quick solution for minor cosmetic imperfections and repairs.
Bonding resins are extremely strong and wear-resistant. Once it is applied to the surface of a tooth, it is cured and hardened by flashing a harmless, high-intensity light. The restoration is then smoothed, shaped and contoured, and the dentist finishes by polishing the tooth. Bonding blends with your natural tooth enamel for a seamless, nearly invisible finish.
